So why is it important to know your style personality?

Our clothes tell a story. They reflect our personality and what’s important to us. Studies have long demonstrated that people make assumptions based on their first impression of you within the first seven seconds of interaction. Wow, that's a short time to make the right impression.

However, none of us fit neatly into one box, often each of us have one dominant or a combination of a few style personalities.

It is important to know who you are in terms of style as it eliminates confusion of what to buy and what to wear, hence saving you money in the long run. Think all those impulse buys when you got influenced by someone who looked amazing in something. So if you are jeans and top kinda girl and constantly get influenced to buy floaty dresses because they are something you should be wearing I am 100% sure you’ll end up in jeans and tops because this is who you are and you feel most comfortable in.

Despite many variations, I'll be focusing on the 6 main ones:

Natural

Classic

Romantic

Urban

Creative

Dramatic

So how do you find out which Style Personality resonates with you?

So firstly, start by thinking how do you want to feel in an outfit: sexy, casual, classic, funky, rock chic, comfortable etc.

Then start looking at things that you would actually wear in real life, stay away from things that are pretty to look at but totally would not fit your lifestyle.

In my experience, many people are inspired by visuals rather than their imagination, so Pinterest is a great place to start when you need some inspiration, you can search from #schoolrunoutfits to #coolofficewear.

Pinterest Moodboard is a perfect way to do it.

You'll often see a pattern of styles you most admire, which will indicate your Style Personality. You can be classic, or romantic, or urban, or natural, or creative, or dramatic, or a combination of these styles.

So if you are a classic style personality, that frilly dress that looks amazing on someone else would never make you feel comfortable, hence knowing your Style is so important in order to stop buying aimlessly random things.

Once you have a clear idea how you would want to look and feel, building a cohesive wardrobe will be a breeze, its like having a roadmap and the destination is in sight.

So let's start looking at each style personality and its traits, we will start with:

Natural Style Personality

• Well put together

• Likes simplicity and clean lines

• Enjoys quality

Often Classic Style Personalities are very conservative and risk looking dated. The aim is to elevate the style while introducing some more contemporary pieces, a tweak in cut, colour or print that will freshen your look.
