I get asked a lot about capsule wardrobe and its benefits, so I decided to write a blog about how to create one for this summer.
Firstly, many of us have masses of random items that do not mix and match well together, hence the struggle in the mornings, it simply does not function well. Therefore, Capsule Wardrobe is the easiest way to take the stress out of getting dressed and make your wardrobe work hard for you.
So what is a capsule wardrobe – it is a minimum amount of clothes, which mix and match really well together, that create the maximum amount of outfits.
However, in my opinion, there’s no one rule that fits all. It has nothing to do with the size, it’s about how functional and tailor made it is for your lifestyle. So you can have more than two pairs of jeans if it fits your lifestyle and you actually wear them and they marry beautifully with the rest of your stuff. The most important bit is having a great foundation and then adding a few items here and there to refresh it and make it work even harder for you. It should be a reflection of your lifestyle and what you feel 100% comfortable in.
So as an example, the key items to have in your wardrobe for this summer:
This list would create at least 36 outfits! So no more - I've got nothing to wear moments for you in the future!
But again it is so very personal to each of us as individuals.
So how do you apply this guide to your personal style and your existing wardrobe?
My suggestion is to have an outfit diary for a month and just observe what are your go to items and what do you feel great in.
So what makes you happy? Maybe it’s a gorgeous pink blazer that makes you super confident? Maybe a bright coloured top that cheers you up? Then focus on building your outfits around those items you feel the best in.
In the end, just do you, the rest will follow. Always wear what makes you happy, celebrate your individuality as there's no one else like you out there.
