Autumn is a season of transition, where the leaves change colours and the air turns crisp. It is also a time for your wardrobe to adapt to the changing weather. As you bid farewell to the warmth of summer, it's time to embrace the cozy and fashionable items that will keep you stylish and comfortable. Think all that layering!
In this blog post, I’ll explore the key items you should have in your autumn wardrobe to make the most of this beautiful season.
Cozy Knitwear
The cornerstone of any autumn wardrobe is a collection of cozy knitwear.
Opt for classic vnecks (open necks elongate your body and make you appear visually smaller), versatile cardigans (especially if blazers are not your friend), and cashmere in earthy tones like rust, forest green, and mustard if you fall under Autumn in seasonal colour analysis, navy, white, burgundy, fuchsia pink and emerald green if you fall under Winter in seasonal colour, lilac, cream, baby blue or plum if you are Summer under seasonal colour analysis or orange, vivid green, camel or yellow if you fall under Spring in seasonal colour analysis.
Knitted jumpers are perfect for layering and will keep you warm on those chilly days.
Here are a few of my favourites around (click on images):
Denim
A good pair of jeans is a year-round essential, but they truly shine in the colder months. Dark wash jeans, wide or straight leg, provide a versatile base for various autumn outfits. Pair them with jumpers, blouses, or lift them up with a stylish blazer for a trendy but comfortable look.
Ankle Boots
Invest in a pair of ankle boots for an autumn staple that's both fashionable and functional. Whether you prefer classic leather, suede, or chic animal prints, ankle boots are perfect for keeping your feet dry and adding an extra edge to your outfit.
Trench Coat
A trench coat is a timeless piece that complements autumn's unpredictable weather. It's lightweight enough for mild days and can be layered over your knitwear and scarves when it gets cooler. Choose a neutral colour like beige (make sure you choose according to your colour season, camel – for warm skin tones, almond white or stone wash for cool seasons) or navy for a versatile option.
Scarves
Scarves are a versatile accessory that can instantly elevate your autumn look. Opt for oversized, cozy scarves in plaid, houndstooth, or solid colours. They not only keep you warm but also add a pop of style and colour to your outfit.
Corduroy
Corduroy trousers and skirts are back in style and are perfect for autumn. The soft, ribbed texture of corduroy adds a touch of vintage charm to your wardrobe. Pair them with a tucked-in blouse or a knitted jumper for a trendy look.
Leather Accessories
Leather is a material that screams autumn. Consider adding leather accessories like belts, handbags, and gloves to your outfit for a touch of sophistication and a nod to the season's natural textures.
Knit Dresses
For those days when you want to stay cozy but look stylish, knitted dresses are a fantastic choice. They're comfortable and can be dressed up or down with accessories and footwear.
Autumn is a time of change, and your wardrobe should adapt accordingly. By incorporating these essential items into your wardrobe, you can embrace the season's beauty while staying comfortable and stylish. From cozy knitted jumpers to versatile denim jeans and chic leather accessories, these key items will ensure you're well-prepared for the autumn months. So, go ahead, embrace the falling leaves and chilly air with a wardrobe that's ready for anything this season has to offer.
